While Placing a Limit Order on BTCMEX you can choose to apply the following advanced settings:
- Time in Force (TIF)
Post-Only Orders are designed to be placed in the order book. They will not be executed immediately at the market price. If this is not possible, the order will be canceled.
Reduce Only Orders will only make your position smaller, but never increase it.
Hidden Orders will not be displayed in the order book. You can choose to hide the number of contracts completely or choose how much can be seen.
Unlike Market Orders, Limit Orders are not executed immediately. With Time in Force settings, you can control for how long the order will stay in the order book before executed or canceled.
Limit Orders have several TIF options: Good till Canceled (GTC), Immediate or Cancel (IOC), and Fill or Kill (FOK).
Good till Canceled (GTC) is an instruction to keep the order active until it’s filled or canceled by a trader.
Immediate or Cancel (IOC) is an instruction to cancel any portion of the order that can not be filled immediately at the order price or better.
Fill or Kill (FOK) is an instruction to fill the entire order immediately at the order price or better, or it will be canceled.
